COURSE DESCRIPTION Architecture is a system of order This course covers the fundamental elements of architecture. Elements of Architecture are the basic structural and systematic order used to make architecture This course is also a traditional design studio and it introduces formal and spatial visual design concepts. Two and three dimensional design problems that required engineering thinking and simulations are resolved during the class. Drawing and modeling are used as investigation and expressive techniques. COURSE OBJECTIVES Be able to cultivate an understanding of the elements of form, structure, volume and the perception of form. Be able to evaluate the design process used and the proposed solution. Be able to revise the design process and develop solutions based upon the evaluation performed.
Contextual Reading for the Entire Course Explorations in the Geometry of Thinking by R. Buckminster Fuller in collaboration with E. J. Applewhite First Published by Macmillan Publishing Co. Inc. 1975, 1979
